                     Pastor Retis and Sis Janice Flowers


  



Rev. Retis Flowers was appointed as the pastor of the  Midway Church of God on October 1,1970.  He is possibly the longest tenured pastor in the state of Florida for the Church of God. 


Pastor Flowers graduated from Suwannee County High School in Live Oak, Florida, in 1957. Upon graduation, he joined the US Marine Corp and served nine years on active duty. His last duty assignment was with the 1st Marine Airwing at Danang, Vietnam. After returning home he joined the Florida Army National Guard and retired with over 27 years of both active duty and reserve time. 


He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and retired from the Madison County Public School System after teaching for 20 years.


Presently Pastor Flowers serves as:

Treasurer - Madison County Christian Ministerial Association, Inc.  provides food, housing and needs to transits passing through Madison County.

Treasurer - Interfaith Community Action Network, Inc. (I-CAN)  a network that assist the handicapped and elderly in our county. 

President - Board of Directors for Consolidated Christian Ministries

assists in feeding Madison county residents with emphasis on the handicapped and elderly. 


Rev. Flowers and his wife Janice have been married for over 52 years. Sis Flowers has also used her skills as a nurse to serve the community. They have three daughters. Rita (Ken) Rankhorn of Live Oak, FL; Edna (Amon) Doyle of Lee, FL; Regina (Brad) Forrest of Candler, NC. They have three grandchildren; Lindsey, Amanda and A.J. (wife Aubren) Doyle. 


Pastor and Sister Flowers feel that God has specifically called them to minister not only to the spiritual, social, and physical needs of the Midway community; but to the essential requirements of Madison County as a whole.
